United as One
Green Swing Supports Maidenhead United FC: United as One
There’s something about a local football club that brings people together—the thrill of a goal, the buzzing crowd, the shared sense of belonging. At Green Swing, we’ve always shared that spirit—“Saturdays are for football, Sundays are for golf”. This season, we're embracing that community energy fully by proudly supporting Maidenhead United FC.
Why Maidenhead United?
First off, they’re our neighbours. Green Swing’s HQ sits just steps away from York Road—one of the most historic grounds in football. Maidenhead United have played there since the club was founded in 1870, making it officially the oldest senior football ground continuously used by the same club. Being part of that neighbourhood, supporting the Magpies feels like supporting our own.
Bridging Football and Golf—All in Support of Mental Health
Our partnership really kicked into gear last summer when Maidenhead United invited us to join their golf fundraiser. In learning more about the club, we discovered a powerful collaboration with CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably) under their “United as One” initiative. With roughly 200,000 suicide attempts each year, imagine how many arenas that fills multiplied by 10—and that’s just the beginning. In the UK, 125 people die by suicide every week, which averages out to one life lost every 90 minutes - about the length of a football match - Suicide remains the biggest killer of men under 50, and alarmingly, suicide rates among young women under 24 have surged to record highs.
We believe golf offers a unique opportunity to connect. A round of golf can be a perfect place for conversation, for a caring nudge, for noticing someone who might be struggling. That’s why we’re incredibly proud to support Maidenhead United in raising awareness and breaking the stigma around mental health.
What You’ll See Around the Ground
If you’re heading to York Road this season, you’ll spot our presence:
-
A cheeky hoarding near the corner flag reads “Time to Swing in a Corner”—a playful nod to both sports and our personality.
-
You’ll also see us in the matchday programme, supporting our town.
-
Next summer, we’ll continue our sponsorship at their golf charity event raising funds for CALM—bringing football, golf, and mental health support together.
But most importantly? We’re here because we are Maidenhead—a local business that believes in sharing wins, in backing mental health, and in celebrating sport together.
